PineCreek Precision carries the best precision farming equipment available. We don't just stand by the products we sell, we put them to the test every year on our company farm. The actual use of the products that we sell gives us a better depth of experience allowing PineCreek Precision to bring more to the table than other dealers.

Why should you be implementing precision agriculture on your farm?

Precision farming gives you the ability to manage your farm on a production zone basis rather than a whole field basis. This shift in farming will allow you to save time and money, outpacing the rises in fuel, fertilizer, and chemical costs. Also, with the government and bankers demanding better record keeping, you can have a map of every trip and application of each field.

How can a small farmer afford precision agriculture equipment?

Over the last several years gains in grain prices have not kept pace with the rising input costs. Also, the larger farms enjoy larger discounts for inputs due to economies of scale. Precision farming is the answer to increase your margin by decreasing your operating costs. Profitability in modern farming is not determined by maximizing the yield of your crops but by maximizing the return on the input costs of the crop. On the 1,500 acre company farm a savings of $20 per acre was achieved by varying the rate of seed and fertilizer. Converting the 455 John Deere seeding drills from ground drive to three independently controlled hydraulic motors reduced the double seeding of corners saved an additional $4 per acre.

What equipment is right for me and my farm?

This depends upon how far you have currently implemented precision farming. The first step would be to have a GPS mapping yield monitor, such as the AgLeader Insight, to acquire the data required to find and manage your production zones. The next piece of equipment recommended would be CropCam which is used to take high resolution digital aerial images. The images that are taken of your farm allows a better understanding and a record of what is happening in a field and to the crops during a growing season. By integrating these two pieces of equipment on your farm, you are on your way to varying the rate of fertilizer, seed, and chemicals. Contact us for a more detailed explanation.

What is CropCam?

CropCam is a miniature agricultural aircraft with an autopilot which is a used to take high resolution digital aerial images. The CropCam is programmed to fly a pattern over your fields in order to take a series of images which are stitched together into a large seamless mosaic image of the entire field. Because the CropCam is GPS guided, it can fly the same precision pattern at any time in order to provide images from the same point of reference. CropCam also flies on demand, allowing for timely pictures without having to wait for a pilot or satellite imagery to become available. The combination CropCam's capabilities allow you to make better decisions about your crops.
